Montaukin'

I think I've told you about the Montauk house that one of my friends is renting for the summer with a group of other people. I bought a quarter share, which means I get the equivalent of 4 weeks, so I came out here yesterday for a few days of relaxation. I got to bring my sister and B.I.L. out with me a few weeks ago, and now I'm taking my days in between the weekends I'm baby-wrangling at the country house upstate. Isn't it great to be an underemployed grad student in the summertime?

The girls picked me up at the train station and we headed straight to the Sunset Saloon for a margarita and dinner on the beach. My friend has heard that Bono was spotted at the Saloon recently, since he's apparently renting a house in Montauk this summer. That seems kind of random unless you know that Montauk is an Irish town - most of the summer workers in restaurants and bars are Irish kids who come over to work for the season. And Bono's Irish, see??

This evening's "celebrity" sighting wasn't quite as exciting as seeing Bono would have been, but was entertaining nonetheless: Tony Soprano's sister!
I have to confess I never watched the series, being deprived of cable for many years, but I have seen her on a few episodes. She looked exactly the same. I'm keeping my eyes peeled for Bono anyway.
