One of the perks of the consulting gig is that I have one day off a week. Well, "off" in the sense that I don't have to go anywhere; I still have work to do, as always. So today was that day, and since it's been raining all day, I have not yet managed to leave my apartment. I haven't managed to shower or put on real clothes, even. It's that kind of Friday.
Monday I spent the day at a high school in Jamaica, Queens doing some demo lessons for English classes on the PSAT. Thrilling. Let me tell you, if you ever need help on the "Identifying Sentence Errors" or "Improving Sentences" section of the PSAT, I'm your girl.
Tuesday was spent at the school in East Harlem, Wednesday was a frustrating day at the school in Bed-Stuy, and yesterday I did a presentation for a bunch of school counselors and program coordinators at the program office at City College. AND I actually went to all of my classes (three total: two on Tuesday nights and one on Thursday) which is an improvement over last week, when I decided I needed to skip a couple.
All this to say that it's Friday at 4:30pm and I'm still wearing my pajama bottoms. So there.
Tonight I'm finally going to see a friend from work play drums at the Blue Note Jazz Club. My roommate pointed out that the Blue Note is where Claire and Cliff Huxtable used to go out, and for some reason I know that Kim Catrall met her last husband there. So both of those are excellent reasons to look forward to tonight, I think.
Before then, I suppose I could drag myself to the gym. I spent all last spring working out at my local NYSC, braving the brazen nakedness of the locker room, only to spend all summer eating, drinking, and basically undoing all of my hard work. The fact that I now have only one pair of jeans that fit my re-expanded ass might be some indication that my Summer of Fun should be over. Especially since it's almost November.
Tomorrow I'm heading upstate to see The (former) Charges, and I can't wait. Monday morning I'm going along to drop off Charge #1 at pre-school so he can show me the cubby with his name on it. Cuteness overload, for sure.
Happy weekend, everyone!
