I don't think I can overstate how much it saddens me that the first viable female candidate on a presidential ticket is truly unprepared and underqualified for the position. As a feminist, I'm so disheartened that the choice of a female VP this time around is basically nothing more than a gimmick for votes. But damn, she's charming. I completely understand why they chose her, but I wish it had been because she was the best candidate for the job, and not because "Joe Six Pack" will vote for her because she's a former beauty queen who knows how to toe the party line.
I watch her looking sincerely in the camera tonight and I want to be proud that she's a woman, seemingly holding her own against a much more experienced veteran of the Senate, but I can't, because it's obvious to me her knowledge level is a few feet wide, and about one inch deep.
I have fought hard not to feel sorry for her after the cringe-worthy moments of her Gibson and Couric interviews, because a vice-presidential candidate shouldn't need my sympathy. And yet, she's clearly in over her head, and only by the miracle of rote memorization can she stand up there next to Joe Biden and not make an ass of herself. And that's a shame. America wasn't ready for Hillary Clinton, but that doesn't mean we don't deserve a female candidate who deserves to be elected.

I am SO with you on this. 100%.
well said, emily.
I keep thinking that if she shatters the glass ceiling, it's because we're lowering it to the floor. I am sad too that someone who is so incapable is getting so far. At such a critical time.
I'm with you. When I first heard her speak I thought she was feisty and loved it, but now i wish we had a more knowledgeable female representation as a runner up. I'm leaning toward the left these days, who would have thought? After fighting the left for so long in Vzla, I never expected to now start to be pro left. But here the left is different, and Obama-Biden seems like the best choice so far.
